Eco-Artivism in Mosaic

  • London School of Mosaic 181 Mansfield Road London, England, NW3 2HP United Kingdom (map)

In this workshop we will be practising sustainability in every possible way. We will be making a 40x40cm mosaic with our own reused paper (I recommend to start collecting as soon as you decide to come).

Participants will bring the idea of a subject they would like to portray and draw it freely by hand on the board (or bring their own image - if they must!).

We will be focusing on andamento, especially if with limited hues - or on the theory of colour if blessed with a variety of hues and/or shades.

We will be thinking on our feet and enjoy finding and making different kinds and shapes of tesserae to re/create different textures.

We will think outside the box, finding unconventional interactions between the tiles both horizontally and vertically.

Finally, we will enjoy making mistakes and turning them into fun learning exercises: only through mistakes can we grow, and truly enjoy both making and exploring art.

Never be afraid to throw your hat in and play!
